HGTV was debating on having a program on renovating homes for accessibility/aging-in-place based on universal design. I think this is in large part to a huge wave of requests for such a show they received this last spring. When several of us contacted HGTV, initiated by an older woman in Michigan. See full story here for how this all started.
Recently a woman from High Noon entertainment called two of our HMOTA members to interview them on home accessibility and told our members that HGTV was thinking of running a renovation show on aging-in-place/accessibility for one season.
Recently, one of the HMOTA members received an email from High Noon entertainment stating they decided there wouldn’t be enough interest in a renovation program on accessibility.
It’s time for all of us to contact High Noon entertainment and HGTV and remind them there is an interest.
Please send an email stating you are interested in a program on accessible/aging-in-place renovations to the following:
- [email protected]
- I couldn’t find an email for High Noon Entertainment, but here is their phone number: Phone: (303) 872-8700
Please contact them, tell them you want an accessible renovation program. Who knows they may ask you to star in an episode.:-)
Regardless of HGTV’s choices to have an aging-in-place renovation show HMOTA is developing a YouTube station for home accessibility makeover videos. If you have a great project you can share with the world please comment below.
