HMOTA’s Home Mod Metrics Program for Autism is a program developed by occupational therapists that specialize in autism. This program is based on research and begins with an assessment of the person with autism’s sensory needs, behavioral issues, and functional abilities.
The Autism Home Mod Metrics program addresses the behavioral, and functional issues of Autism from a clinical perspective through home modifications. We address elopement and home safety issues through home modifications and setting up sensory environments within the home that the person with autism can access themselves to assist with sensory regulation. Research shows that sensory rooms reduce emergency room visits, this program strives to give people with autism a way to self-regulate to reduce self injurious behaviors and aggression but also to improve quality of life for the person with autism and their families.
