HMOTA: Dr. Rachel Russell on the OT Home Mod Eval Process

September 28, 2018 By Karen Koch

Dr. Rachel Russell gave a very informative presentation on her research on Occupational Therapy Home Modification Processes.  Her research is pivotal in helping to define the home modification occupational therapy practice and in developing a market for home mod OT’s to create viable businesses through creating processes instead of home mod OT evaluations being a one time event in the home modification process.
Link to webinar on home mod processes research video with Rachel Russell below.
Rachel spoke with us about her research on:
  • Process of OT’s working with builders
  • Different phases of OT’s roles during the modification process
  • Identifying opportunities and challenges in the home mod process, which as we all know is how you build a business.

Rachel went over her research on how, ‘The Home Modification Process Protocol not only helps the practitioner to articulate the value of their role at each phase of the modification process, but it guides them to take the ‘right action’, make the ‘right decisions’, at the ‘right time’, so the ‘right modification’ is installed.’
Dr. Russell’s work and everything we’re doing is important in  defining and creating this emerging field.
