What is Capitol Day?
Capitol Day is an annual “day” that is sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of Michigan and the Michigan Brain Injury Provider Council which is designed to inform and educate Michigan Representatives about the current issues affecting both individuals and organizations who is concerned about the issue of brain injury. BIAMI will provide materials about the issues currently being debated.
Who should come? Anyone willing to meet with Michigan Representatives to discuss current issues (you will be briefed ahead of time). This includes; Survivors, Family Members of Survivors, Providers, or those interested in supporting those with Brain Injuries.
Tentative Schedule of Events:
8:00 a.m. – Registration / Coffee – Tea
8:30 – Welcome Remarks / Issue Briefing
9:00 – Tips on how to make the most of your meeting
10 – 4:30 – Appointments, 30 min. (vary individually) – Each meeting is set up with a minimum of two people who will meet with the Representative or Senator.
Noon – Provided lunch
Both the Senate and House will be in session so in times where you don’t have an appointment you are welcome to watch the session.
4:30 – Meet for debriefing
Parking: Cost is approx. $5-10 per day. Maps will be provided. Free Handicap parking.
