Adaptive Equipment Favorites for the Home

February 6, 2017 By Karen Koch

Here are a few of my favorite pieces of adaptive equipment, what are yours?

Comfort Arms- toilet armrests

Bed mobility bar

Ponte Guilio colored grab bars for low vision clients

Glacier Premium Shower Chair
This is a cool shower chair.  It is very stable, completely adjustable and sort of modern looking.  I got one of these for my mom and my husband liked it so much he wanted to get a few of them to use as lawn chairs.

BioBidet toilet seat
Caregivers love this almost as much as the people receiving care.  It’s a bit of a hardsell for the caregive-ee but once they start using it they love it.  I spent loads of time researching these.  This brand is the best for heated water, cost effectiveness and cleaning effectiveness.  It’s super

simple, just put it on the toilet, connect it to the water intake for the toilet and plug it in.  It has an on demand heater system so the hot water doesn’t run out.
One quick tip, if you get a bidet seat get the one with the remote control.  Unless you have a very thin client it is difficult to utilize the controls that are on the side of the seat.

Bath transfer bench:

Stiltz Elevator, not yet approved for use in Michigan:

So what equipment do you like?
