So instead of grab bars by the toilet, armrests? Great idea, no mounting grab bars in the walls and these Comfort arms (aka toilet armrests) are height adjustable and easy to install, check them out.
After seeing these Comfort Arms I bought a set and sold a few sets to customers who loved them. What I love about these commode armrests:
- Look good.
- Very stable.
- Easy to install.
- Height adjustable.
- Hold up to 330 pounds.
- Fit all toilets.
- Solves the problem needing grab bars on both sides of a toilet that only has a wall on one side-see below. This problem would otherwise be solved with a drop-down grab bar which doesn’t look so nice and is more expensive to install.
The Comfort Arms were surprisingly easy to install. The directions state to install with metal bolts that secure in the back of the toilet where the toilet seat secures. I also used silicon caulk around the base of the armrests that sit on the bowl of the toilet bowl to make cleaning easier.
There are other more medical-looking alternatives on the market that are less expensive, and they look less expensive such as the versa-frame. My only real issues with the some of the other toilet frames on the market(other than looks) that many are impossible to install so they don’t shake when the user puts weight on it. This really upsets people with poor balance. And not all toilet frames fit all toilets, sometimes you don’t find out which toilets they fit until the frame arrives. Either way these Comfort Arms are stable, fit all toilets, and are my favorite by far.
Here’s a video for showing how easy Comfort Arms are to install.
